The approach

Practical, progressive, grounded in real life.

This program is designed to introduce practical self-defense in a structured, supportive training environment. It is not about looking for confrontation or promising that every situation can be controlled.

01 / AWARENESS

Notice earlier

Explore situational awareness, personal boundaries, distance, positioning and the importance of recognising when to disengage.

02 / DECISION-MAKING

Choose your response

Practise clear communication, de-escalation and decision-making through guided scenarios appropriate to the group's experience.

03 / PRACTICE

Learn by doing

Build familiarity through progressive, supervised drills with an emphasis on control, safety, repetition and individual comfort.

How classes work

A small-group format with a clear progression.

Classes are planned to help participants develop foundational skills over time. The instructor will explain each exercise, demonstrate the technique and offer regressions or alternatives when needed.

  • No previous martial arts experience required
  • Guided practice and clear safety rules
  • Respect for personal boundaries and consent
  • Focus on avoidance, escape and seeking help—not confrontation

“The goal of practical self-defense is not to win a fight. It is to improve your ability to recognise risk, make decisions and get to safety.”

Common questions

Before you begin

Do I need previous experience?

No. The program is intended to introduce the fundamentals progressively. Tell the instructor about relevant limitations or concerns before participating.

What should I bring?

Comfortable sports clothing and a second pair of clean shoes, water and a willingness to practise respectfully. The instructor will advise if any additional equipment is required.

Does self-defense mean learning to fight?

The program prioritises awareness, boundaries, avoidance, de-escalation, escape and safe, supervised practice. No class can guarantee safety in every situation.
